BIO 201 - Fundamentals of Biology: Organisms to Ecosystems; BIO 202 - Fundamentals of Biology: Molecular and Cellular Biology; BIO 203 - Fundamentals of Biology: Cellular and Organ Physiology; BIO 204 - Fundamentals of Scientific Inquiry in the Biological Sciences I; BIO 205 - Fundamentals of Scientific Inquiry in the Biological Sciences IIA OR BIO 207 - Fundamentals of Scientific Inquiry in the Biological Sciences IIB
BIO 310 - Cell Biology; BIO 320 - General Genetics OR BIO 321 - Ecological Genetics (see Note 2) OR EBH 302 - Human Genetics (see Note 2); BIO 361 - Biochemistry I (see Note 3); BIO 362 - Biochemistry II (see Note 3); BIO 365 - Biochemistry Laboratory. Note 2: BIO 321 or EBH 302 cannot satisfy both the Advanced biology/chemistry elective and the biochemistry major Genetics requirement. One or the other, not both. Note 3: BIO 361 must be taken prior to BIO 362. A grade of C or higher in BIO 202, CHE 321 & CHE 322 or CHE 331 and CHE 332 are required to enroll in BIO 361 and BIO 362.
Choose 2 courses
Excluding courses already counted toward “Advanced Courses in Biology”.
Two additional courses, totaling at least five credits, chosen after consultation with an advisor from the following list: AMS 333; BIO 312; BIO 314; BIO 315; BIO 316; BIO 317; BIO 321 (see Note 2); BIO 325; BIO 327; BIO 328; BIO 332; BIO 334; BIO 335; BIO 337; BIO 338; BIO 339; BIO 354; BIO 358; BIO 364; BIO 367; BME 304; CHE 346; EBH 302 (see Note 2); EBH 380.
To satisfy the Upper-Division Writing requirement for the major in Biochemistry, students must co-register for the 0-credit BIO 459 course with either BIO 365 (Biochemistry lab) or an alternate approved advanced course in biological sciences or chemistry (see below). Students MUST enroll in BIO 459 at the same time they are registering for the respective advanced course. To receive WRTD credit and a satisfactory grade in BIO 459, either a BIO 365 lab report or term paper from another approved advanced biology/chemistry course must be submitted for writing evaluation prior to the end of the term and pass the review process.
