Notes

Note: Requirements follow the department's honors course sequence. The catalog states the conditions for conferral of honors: all CS major requirements, the two-semester honors project, CSE 303 or CSE 350, at least three honors courses besides the project (one, with a GPA of at least 3.75 overall and in CSE), and a GPA of at least 3.50, both cumulative and in CSE courses.
Note: Graduate courses or other advanced undergraduate courses may count as honors courses with prior department approval. The teaching practicum CSE 475 may substitute for one honors course.
Grading: Students whose GPA drops below 3.50, cumulative or in CSE courses, may lose Honors designation.
Admission: Open to freshmen (unweighted high school average of 93 or higher, strong math and science grades) and to continuing CS majors with U2 standing or higher, at least two technical CSE courses, and a 3.50 GPA both in CSE courses and cumulative.
Note: Honors students in good standing at the end of junior year are recommended, on application, for the five-year joint B.S./M.S. program in Computer Science.
