Notes

Advising: The minor is interdisciplinary. Students design an individual program of study centered on a particular area of concentration in consultation with an advisor. Director of the Minor: Robert Hoberman, Linguistics, Robert.Hoberman@stonybrook.edu, (631) 632-7776, S-213 Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Note: Failure to obtain prior approval of the program may result in denial of credit for the minor.
Note: Suggested sample programs (Near Eastern Religions, Ancient Near East, Middle Eastern Culture and Politics) are examples only. Students should consult an advisor about other possibilities, such as Islamic studies, Middle Eastern history, or Semitic languages and linguistics.
Note: Besides the required courses, it is strongly recommended that students take a year of language related to their chosen topic area. The language courses listed in the sample programs are recommended but not required.
