How do scientists, scholars, writers, and artists convey the urgency of the environmental challenges we currently face? This course explores how writers and speakers creatively move readers to action, using genre and narrative forms as a rhetorical strategy to communicate crisis, change, and creativity. Students will write about the environment and nature based on their own experiences and observations. Coursework will include foundational and current texts of eco-literature along with reading responses, essays, and practical projects. Students will engage in experiential learning through hands-on environmental advocacy work, field study, or advocacy-based creative endeavors.
